This exhibition consisted of 12 lightboxes mounted in a darkende space.
These works investigate the complex thing that is Cork City. As a newcomer, I was energised by its history, geography, streetscapes, and architecture when I arrived. This is essentially an Outsiders View of the city Centre. Each day I skipped down the town as if I had arrived here for the first time. With this approach, I also informed myself of the history, and town planning and the ‘what might have beens’ of the city. In these images I look at contemporary Cork and follow the threads that bind Corkonians to their city both past and present.
The work for this series started in December of 2004 was completed by the end of February. 2006. It was an exciting departure as this was the first time I had worked with light.
Each piece operates at a number of levels:- visceral, aesthetic, and symbolic. The work is a mixture of private vision, intimate portraits, social critiques, intellectual and aesthetic arguments in varying degrees

'One of our own'
|
This piece reflects on the sense of identity that is bound in with rejecting, on some level, the outsider in favour of the known. Good community bonding or secterianism?
